Introducing Catherine Fookes

I am looking forward to working with the OTB to increase its membership, increase its influence andĀ help to drive forward the business plan.

As well as my work for the OTB I am currently co-ordinating the communications campaign “Organic UK” on behalf of Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming and the organic industry. My degrees in Business Studies with French and my Masters in Development Studies led me to work at ActionAid and then the Soil Association as a Campaigner before joining Sustain. At Sustain, I work on organic food and farming having previously been Co-ordinator of the Organic Targets Bill Campaign. In 2008, I wrote a major report “Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie” investigating nursery school food for Organix and the Soil Association.

Since 2002 I have been a Government adviser on organic farming standards, sitting as a consumer member on Defra’s “Advisory Committee on Organic Standards” (ACOS).

I also organise the Abergavenny Food Festival’s Children’s Food Academy and works on various projects for F3, local food consultants.
